Michel Martin is the host and creator of Tell Me More, a one-hour daily NPR news and talk radio show heard around the country. A veteran journalist and correspondent for ABC News from 1996 to 2006, she reported on such subjects as the Congressional budget battles, the U.S. embassy bombings in Africa, the Anita Hill-Clarence Thomas controversy, and the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. In addition, she hosted the 13-episode series Life 360, an innovative program partnership between Oregon Public Broadcasting and Nightline.

Martin, who has spent more than 25 years as a journalist, is curious about many things. "I wonder what it's like to leave everything and everyone you know for the promise of a better life: to run for President, to be a professional athlete, to parent children of a different race." She says, "I am fascinated by people who live lives different from my own. And at the same time, I feel connected to all of these lives being a journalist, a woman of color, a wife and mother." This curiosity drives Martin's work for Tell Me More, in which she explores topics ranging from global issues to intimate dispatches of daily life.

Before joining ABC News in 1992, Martin covered state and local politics for The Washington Post and national politics and policy at The Wall Street Journal, where she was White House correspondent.

Martin has been honored with awards by numerous organizations, including an Emmy, the Candace Award for Communications from The National Coalition of 100 Black Women, and the Joan Barone Award for Excellence from the Radio and Television Correspondents' Association.

A native of Brooklyn, NY, Martin graduated cum laude from Radcliffe College at Harvard University. She is a member of the board of Archbishop John Carroll High School in Washington, D.C. and of St. Paul's School in Concord, N.H., where she was part of the third class of girls to graduate from the formerly all-boys school. She is married with two older daughters and twin toddlers.

Martin has moderated four previous Connecticut Forums, including The Anatomy of Power in 2003, The Future of Human Life and Medical Science in 2005, The Presidency in 2008, and Global Affairs in 2011.
