Eileen Kraus is currently Vice Chairman of Shawmut National Corporation and President of Shawmut Bank Connecticut. She also serves on the Board of Directors for Shawmut Bank Connecticut and Shawmut Bank N.A. Kraus joined Hartford National Bank in 1979 as Vice President in charge of Human Resources Planning and Development and steadily climbed the corporate ladder to her current position.

She is Chairman and Director of the Greater Hartford Chamber of Commerce, a trustee and member of the Executive Committee of Trinity College, Kingswood Oxford School and the Bushnell Memorial Hall, Chairman of the Community Economic Development Fund Foundation Inc. and serves on countless community organizations, boards and committees.

Kraus is a magna cum laude graduate of Mount Holyoke College and earned her Master of Arts degree from Trinity College. Her awards include: 1990 Connecticut Business Leader of the Year, The Hartford Courant Leadership Award to Women in Business amd the New England Council, 1993.
