Ron Compton

Ronald Compton is Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer at Aetna Life and Casualty Company. A native of Chicago, Illinois, Compton graduated from Northwestern University in 1954 with a Bachelor's degree in Philosophy and joined Aetna's former Casualty and Surety Division as an underwriter that same year. After a brief stint as President of the American Re-Insurance Company, Compton returned to Aetna as Senior Vice President and Executive Assistant to the Office of the Chairman, continuing to climb the corporate ladder until he reached the top with his election as chairman and CEO in 1991.

Compton is a member of the Geneva Association and The Business Roundtable. He is Director of CBIA and the Connecticut Business and Education Coalition and the Connecticut Opera. He also serves as Cooperating Director of the National Association of Manufacturers and as a Trustee for the University of Hartford and The Bushnell.
